A spur-of-the-moment decision during a weekend trip to Bunnings has turned an Adelaide man into an instant millionaire, winning more than $2.3 million from Saturday's lottery draw.
The man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, was one of 13 winners of the $30 million Saturday Lotto Megadraw, with one winner in each division taking home $2,307,692.31.
One in three Aussies were expected to buy a ticket.
The lucky winner said he had gone to the local news agency on a whim before picking the winning numbers: 39, 38, 3, 2, 11 and 23, plus the additional numbers 22 and 35.
The ticket was purchased at Pimpala Newsagency & Gifts in the Adelaide suburb of Woodcroft.

“I was at Bunnings yesterday and I thought I was going to be in the $30 million draw so I went and got a ticket,” the lucky winner told Lotto officials.
'I try to stay cool, calm and collected. I don't think it has fully sunk in yet.'
He said receiving the news was “surreal” and described the win as a “bit of good news just before 2024 starts.”
“I'll have to spend the next week or so thinking about how best to use it,” he said.
“I'll probably put it into stocks and investments and see what happens from there.
“I might even buy a new car.”
Four of his co-winners were from NSW and Victoria, two from Western Australia and one each from Queensland and the Northern Territory.
There were also 180 division two winners who took home $11,358.45 each, plus 3,342 division three winners who took home $925.90, with the total revenue from Saturday's mega draw reaching $68.7 million.
