Friend and colleague Tama Napitupulu said the group was returning home from a night shift at the Thomas Foods abattoir in Lobethal when tragedy struck.

She added that Mr Utomo was only in that car by chance after his own car broke down.

“When I found out it was Ari this morning, I couldn’t even get up,” Ms Napitupulu said.

“He was such a nice guy, he always put a big smile on his face when he said hello to everyone.”
