Leabrook, Adelaide: Entitled homeowner is slammed after leaving an angry note on neighbour’s car – but not everyone agrees

A homeowner has been slammed after leaving a note attacking people for parking on his street in spaces he wanted to use for limousines, VIP guests and domestic workers.

The typed letter was apparently left in a vehicle along Godfrey Terrace in Leabrook, in East Adelaide, asking the ‘non-resident’ to stop parking on the street.

Locals claimed the driver had ’caused trouble’ by taking a parking space from their gardener, cleaner and visiting friends.

And they warned them not to park there for the next few weeks because they had several events that needed the space.

“We have several festivities, including a VIP event, and prefer that your car not be parked opposite our pedestrian gate, especially so that the two limousines can park nicely opposite our house,” the note reads.

A privileged homeowner had come under fire from social media users for asking a driver not to park on a public street so he could park limousines outside their home (pictured)

But the note may have backfired after it was posted on social media, with the street now threatened as a target for strangers who deliberately park on the street.

“I have an unused car in my garage that I would like to donate to such a great cause,” said one Instagram user wrote.

“I’m willing to drive from Canberra for a good cause,” said another.

Other users called the letter passive-aggressive and were furious that it read “like rich bingo.”

“The worst part about this is they ask people not to park across the road either, like they own both sides,” one user wrote.

“Appealing to someone’s better character to make more room for your limos seems counterproductive,” wrote a second.

A third wrote: “If you ever needed an example of ‘first world problems’ this would be it.”

Some users sided with the homeowner, saying they were tired of people taking over spaces outside their homes.

“The fact that they park their car in the middle of the spot, where two cars can fit if parked properly, really sucks in my opinion,” one person wrote.

Another asked, “Is there anything worse than some button consistently parking in front of your house?”

“I could never park in front of my own house or have anyone come over because the house down the street had three generations living in it and six cars that always filled the street,” they wrote.
