Aussie couple’s date night at kebab shop ends in out-of-control brawl that left the cop trying to stop it with a broken arm

An Aussie couple’s date night at a kebab shop degenerated into an all-out brawl that left a female police officer with a broken arm.

Brooke Haynes and Dakota Jenkins, both 26, were captured on CCTV throwing chairs and pushing customers at Falafel House on Hindley Street in Adelaide’s CBD.

Jenkins pushes a customer into a refrigerator, causing him to drop his kebab, moments before Haynes sends a plastic chair flying across the restaurant.

The couple then walks onto the sidewalk as several police officers try to break up the drunken fight.

As the scuffle continues, a female officer falls backwards and breaks her arm.

Police will allege Haynes, a young mother from Adelaide’s southern suburbs, spat at police officers twice during the scuffle.

The O’Halloran Hill couple were charged with a series of crimes, including aggravated assault and obstructing police.

Haynes spent 36 hours behind bars before appearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday, wearing the same clothes she was arrested in.

Her lawyer, Peter Hill, said the young couple had been enjoying a rare night out without their 11-month-old son before things turned violent.

“They had the evening off from their son… they responsibly took an Uber into town, but parents who don’t get away with much, the night clearly got out of hand due to drunkenness,” Mr Hill told the magistrate.

‘We say that this is not a lady with a drink or drug problem, but just a hardworking stay-at-home mother.

“The (police officer) suffered a broken arm and no charges will be filed for that. The two assault police come up with two spitting charges.”

Haynes was granted bail due to her ‘limited’ criminal history and left the courthouse hand-in-hand with Jenkins, who had already been granted police bail.

The couple declined to answer questions from waiting media.

Haynes will appear in court again in April, while Jenkins will return the following month.

The police officer who broke her arm during the incident was treated in hospital.
