An Instagram post showing an inspector issuing a ticket to a car parked slightly over the front line of its metered parking space has sparked lively debate over whether it was an act worthy of a fine.
The clip posted to ‘Just Adelaide Things’ shows a black Subaru hatchback with its front wheel and nose sticking out past a designated roadside parking bay in central Adelaide.
Despite all the other spaces being empty an inspector issues the car with a ticket, much to the amusement of the person taking the video.
It was not a lucky day for the owner of this Subaru hatchback as the ill-judged park attracted the notice of an inspector in central Adelaide
The inspector can be seen placing the ticket behind the windscreen wiper as the person behind the camera exclaims: ‘Yes!’
‘What do you think? Harsh, or justified?’ the post asks.
‘Yes, we appreciate that the ticket may have been issued for exceeding the time limit, but let’s just assume – for the sake of the internetsplainers – that it’s being issued for parking outside the designated area of the parking bay’
Many of those replying thought the ticket was well deserved.
‘Justified, terrible parking,’ one wrote.
‘We live in a society- he’s taking up two parks. Legit,’ another commented.
‘Nope not harsh. Tow the thing. How hard is it to park FFS,’ was another less than sympathetic response.
There were a number of comments expressing enthusiastic support of the ticket being given
However, a few commenters suggested there could have been mitigating circumstances.
‘Maybe there were cars on either side before & everyone’s vanished, maybe,’ one wrote.
‘Depends on if and how the people were parked in front or behind,’ another said.
‘Much as I’d like to say justified, what if there was a motorcycle in the area behind?’ a third suggested.
