The latest: Adam Sandler, 56, has provided new details about his upcoming project with Josh and Benny Safdie, with whom he collaborated on the critically acclaimed 2019 Uncut Gems. He was photographed in LA earlier this month
“Once the Safdie Brothers movie starts — and I love those guys, I know we’ll be dedicating ourselves to fleshing out our work and making sure it’s the best it can be, and I know that a lot of time.” Sandler said. “So part of my brain is like, ‘Wow, once that movie starts, I’m in deep and our lives are going to change.’
“Like everyone else, when you work hard, you’re tired, you’re knocked out, and you miss things you wish you could have seen.
“But in the end I know it will be a few months to go after a goal that we all feel the same about. We want to do our best.’
Sandler said he anticipated a creative process as intense as Uncut Gems “because of how much these guys care about him” and because he “don’t want to let them down.”

The Saturday Night Live alumnus said he had memories of working on the NBC variety show while working with the brothers
Sandler played the role of Howard Ratner in the Safdies-directed drama Uncut Gems
“I see how hard they work, and just like when I’m working on my comedies with my friends, it means a lot to us,” said Sandler, who played Howard Ratner in the drama. “Every joke means a lot. The Safdie guys, every word means a lot to them, every frame of the movie means a lot. So I don’t want to walk through anything. I care and I have so much respect for those guys.”
The Saturday Night Live alumnus said he reminisced about working on the NBC variety show in his partnership with the brothers through the creative and promotional process for Uncut Gems, which generated a lot of buzz almost three years ago when it debuted.
“I just remember the whole process was fun,” Sandler said. “Getting to know those guys, being with those guys, it felt a bit like the old days, like early Saturday Night Live, hanging out with a group, going places together, believing in a project together. I just felt like I had great teammates there.”
In recent years, Sandler has starred in films such as 2020’s Hubie Halloween and 2022’s Hustle. He is slated to appear next year in the sci-fi drama Spaceman opposite Paul Dano and Carey Mulligan.
