- NRL star Adam Elliott, 28, has previously been a magnet for controversy
- Issued by Bulldogs, will have chance to revive Raiders career in 2022
- He then signed a three-year contract with Knights, and his career is now back on track
- I am grateful to fiancé Millie Boyle for giving him life balance
Emotional Knights backrower Adam Elliott has credited fiancé and NRLW star Millie Boyle for saving his football career which he admitted was ‘on the line’.
The 28-year-old Elliott joined Adam O’Brien’s squad of the Raiders this season on a three-year deal and will play an elimination semifinal against his former teammates at McDonald Jones Stadium this weekend.
The second rower is no stranger to off-field controversies and firmly believes that his relationship with the Roosters gag has provided the balance of life he’s been longing for.
“Millie is the biggest influence on my personal happiness right now. How much she invested in my family and how she helped raise my baby boy (from a previous relationship) means the world to me,” Elliott told the paper. Sydney Morning Herald.
“I probably don’t give her enough credit, she’s a very special person… when she tries to explain everything she does for me, it makes me a little emotional.”

The footballers were childhood friends who grew up on the south coast of NSW before embarking on a whirlwind romance
The sporting couple – who are set to marry in October – made headlines for their infamous ‘toilet tryst’ at a Gold Coast restaurant in August 2021.
They announced their engagement last year, just weeks after Boyle won the NRLW Grand Final with the Knights, with Elliott crying tears of joy in the stands.

Elliott also acknowledged the influence Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has played in reviving his career after being released by the Bulldogs in 2021 following some alcohol fueled drama.
They reportedly bonded because Stuart’s daughter Emma was autistic, as was Elliott’s brother James.

“The details of that conversation (when Elliott turned down Canberra’s offer) will remain private… I felt that loyalty to Canberra was a bit of an obligation to them,” he said.
‘I think Sticky could see it wasn’t easy for me and that he was disappointed that I left… but there’s no bad blood in that, I’ll always have a lot of respect for him.
‘Adz (Adam O’Brien) said there was a place for me in Newcastle, so I went there. I couldn’t be happier with how the move went.’
The Knights will be clear favorites on home soil this Sunday, having won their last nine games to be the NRL’s form team ahead of week one of the finals.
