Steven and his wife, Kate Capshaw, 70, are also parents to Mikaela George, 28, Sasha, 34, Sawyer, 32, Theo, 36, and Jessica, 48.
The daughter of American filmmaker Steven, Destry has directed several films, including Mass Hysteria and Nerds, while her latest film Please Don’t Feed the Children was released on Thursday.
She also starred in I Know This Much is True and the critically acclaimed Licorice Pizza, and worked as a production assistant and on props for some of her father’s films.
After launching her feature debut at the Sitges International Film Festival on Friday, she discussed her goals for the film and claimed she wanted to bring a cast of new faces to Hollywood.
The project, helmed by Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery and Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, follows a gang of orphans who travel south in search of a new life after a viral outbreak decimates the country’s adult population.
However, they find themselves at the mercy of a psychotic woman hiding a dangerous secret.
When it came to casting people for the film, Destry worked with famed casting director Anne McCarthy, who worked on the film The Conjuring, to find fresh and young actors who wanted to break into Hollywood.

‘I want to start a career. I’m tired of seeing films that lack young talent. There are so many young and talented actors who are not seen.’
‘I think the whole system sucks and I don’t understand why the industry is so exclusive. It’s foolish.’
