Actor Tyrese Gibson breaks down in shocking scene on the Breakfast Club: ‘Black men cry’
Tyrese Gibson got emotional while talking about grief on Tuesday’s episode The Breakfast Club.
The 45-year-old Fast & The Furious star stopped by the radio show to talk about his upcoming album Beautiful Pain and his new film 1992, which stars him and the late Ray Liotta.
Tears flowed when host Charlamagne Tha God asked how Tyrese is coping with the loss of loved ones, including his mother, two sisters, Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker and Baby Boy director John Singleton.
“I do the best I can with every 24 hours I have,” Tyrese replied, his eyes filling with tears.
Charlamagne stood up to hug him and offered him tissues, but Tyrese refused, saying, “This is what adulting is. Black men cry.”

He continued: ‘When divorce happens, women are not the only ones devastated.
‘If you have a miscarriage, women aren’t the only ones you need to watch out for.
“If you can’t put bread on the table because your career is booming and busting, stop calling men and ignoring women, and just keep looking at them.”
Tyrese has faced great personal losses, including the deaths of his mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, in 2022 from COVID-19 and pneumonia, and his two sisters, Salendra and Shonta Gibson, in 2021 and 2023.
He also mourned the loss of film industry colleagues Baby Boy director Singleton, who died in 2019, and 2 Fast 2 Furious co-star Walker, who died in a car crash in 2013.
Additionally, Tyrese has dealt with two divorces and ongoing custody battles.
From 2007 to 2009, he was married to Norma Mitchell and together they have a 17-year-old daughter, Shayla.
His second marriage to Samantha Gibson ended in divorce in 2020 after four years. They have a 6-year-old daughter, Soraya.
“This is some real shit right here. I’m wiping my own tears,” Tyrese continued on The Breakfast Club. “When you do things from your heart, it touches hearts.”

Last week, Tyrese became emotional after singing the national anthem during the Los Angeles Rams-Dallas Cowboys exhibition game.
During the performance he paid tribute to Marvin Gaye and explained why it was such a moving experience for him.
“It’s for my mom. Four kids and there’s only two left. I was the only one born and raised in LA. This means the world to me,” he shared with ET. “I hit a few bad notes, but Marvin Gaye, I hope I made you proud. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.”
