Actor Glen Powell ruthlessly booed at a Georgia football game
Actor Glen Powell was aggressively booed during an appearance at a football game in Georgia this weekend, even though that was exactly the intention.
Powell previously signed on to play football player Chad Powers in a new Hulu series based on the hilarious Eli Manning sketch from two years ago.
And on Saturday, Powers and others from the show went to Athens to film a scene during halftime of Georgia’s win over Mississippi State — during which the audience reportedly is told to loudly curse the actor as he ran onto the field.
Powell and his “teammates” appeared to represent a fictional school, with the letters “SG” on their white and blue jerseys.
Regardless, the thousands of Georgia fans at Sanford Stadium were happy to boo Powell, who was also seen on the jumbotron while he was on the field.

Last winter, it was announced that Powell would star in a Hulu series
The show’s idea stemmed from Manning attending a walk-on tryout at Penn State undercover, disguising himself so that none of the team’s coaches – except head coach James Franklin – could recognize him.
Of course, two-time Super Bowl winner Manning – sporting a mustache and shaggy haircut – showed far greater passing ability than the typical walk-on and left his peers and coaches in awe before his real identity was revealed.
The hilarious segment from his ESPN show “Eli’s Places” went viral and was eventually developed into a Hulu show, which Powell co-writes and co-creates.

An official synopsis for the comedy reads: “When bad behavior ruins QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.”
Previous photos of Powell from the show’s filming published by TMZ saw him don an Oregon Ducks jersey – likely as Holiday before adopting his Powers persona on the show.
Screenwriter Michael Waldron, known for “Loki” and “Rick and Morty,” serves as executive producer along with Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown.
The show’s release date has not yet been announced.
