Activision is killing the old Call of Duty: Warzone

Activision is shutting down the older incarnation of Call of Duty: Warzoneknown as Warzone Caldera, on September 21, the publisher announced on Thursday. Actvision said Call of Duty developers will focus on future Call of Duty content, including current ones War zone free-to-play experience.”

“All Caldera gameplay, player progression, inventories, and online services will expire on September 21 Activision said in a blog post announcing the closure of the game. The closure has no consequences War zone 2.0says Activision, noting that purchased content in Warzone Caldera by Modern warfare, Black Ops Cold WarAnd Forefront which will remain accessible in those games.

Activision’s statement is pressing Warzone Caldera players to switch to War zone 2.0 (and the next Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile), which launched alongside last November Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

We’ve all had incredible Warzone experiences in the Call of Duty franchise since its initial launch, including those in Warzone Caldera. For those players who haven’t jumped to the current yet War zone activities, expect a huge amount of gameplay choices on three Battle Royale maps (including Season 04’s new map Vondel), as well as Ranked Play, the DMZ Beta with five different Extraction Zones, BlackCell offerings and more.

Players should prepare for even more War zone content on consoles and PC, as well as a new era of battle royale on its way with the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, including a shared Battle Pass and cross-progression.
