‘Active shooter’ situation as cops issue urgent warning
Police said Wednesday morning they are responding to an active shooter situation unfolding in Melbourne, Florida.
The public is asked to avoid the area of Babcock Street and Strawbridge Avenue.
A police spokesperson told DailyMail.com that they encountered fire when they arrived at the scene of an apartment building after receiving a call about suspicious activity.
Police suspect a man is now barricaded in one of the apartments.
Melbourne Police said: “Melbourne Police are actively working an active shooting situation in the Babcock & Strawbridge area.
“Please avoid the area. The press hall is located in the parking lot north of Hibicus, west of Babcock. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.”
