“We are in the process of activating our reunification plan and further details will be provided.”

A large police presence was seen outside the high school as officers made sure the building was safe.

A post on the Dane County Emergency Management website said there was an active shooter “armed with a rifle and considered dangerous.”

The district issued an update after saying the threat had been neutralized.

‘As an update, our students remain in hard lockdown in all our buildings. Law enforcement is circulating throughout the high school to confirm the safety of all students,” the district said on Facebook.

“Again, please do not report to any of our schools at this time. Once we confirm everyone’s safety, we will begin the process of reuniting with families at another location.”

No suspect has yet been identified and it is unclear whether they have been arrested.

DailyMail.com has contacted Mount Horeb police.

According to the municipality, the search of the building has so far yielded no additional suspects.

Equally important, we have no reports of any individuals being harmed, with the exception of the alleged attacker.

Students from the middle school were evacuated, although there was “no threat at that location,” officials said.

“We are currently in the process of systematically releasing high school students to use the high school restrooms. They are not being released at this time.

“You would be so proud of our students and staff, and we are so grateful for our first responders.”
