Acting Intimacy Coach Reveals Secrets Behind a Good Sex Scene — And How She Handles Male Stars Who Get Visibly Aroused

An ‘intimacy coordinator’ who has worked on popular Australian films and TV shows has revealed the secrets of a good sex scene.

Chloe Dallimore works with cast and crew on leading productions to ensure that the actors can play their intimacy scenes well and that no boundaries are crossed during filming.

She said The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday that there’s a clear formula to follow when it comes to creating passionate moments on screen.

“We go through the script and isolate the scenes with intimate content. We determine which has nudity, which has bodily fluid transfer,” she said.

Chloe has helped develop safe sex and intimacy procedures in many leading Australian productions including Home and Away, Heartbreak High and 3000 Years of Longing.

She said one aspect of her role was reassuring actresses that their male co-stars’ “physical reactions” to a sex scene were just a chemical reaction to the mood.

“I’ll let them know if they do get a reaction, it’s an animal first reaction.”

“It’s chemicals in your brain that think you might be having sex,” she explained.

‘I’m involved from the pre-production stage and have the conversations from the beginning. At something like Heartbreak High (pictured), which has a lot of intimacy, I’d be there several times a week,” she said

She added that in the role, she works with cast and crew to determine if everyone is comfortable with the scripted scene and to plan the logistics of filming safely.

Chloe ended by saying that another crucial aspect of her role was brightening up a scene by creating chemistry between the performers.

“Sometimes you just need to use a different camera angle to make the scene look more realistic,” she added.
