An acclaimed violinist is reportedly suing a celebrity trainer after she broke her elbow doing Pilates at a studio where Victoria Beckham, Elle McPherson, Robbie Williams and Meghan Markle allegedly trained.

Maya Meron, 43, suffered a broken left elbow and serious abdominal injuries, requiring hospital treatment after a machine she was using reportedly collapsed at the Heartcore studio in Hampstead, north London.

The mum-of-three, who has appeared on the BBC Proms, claims an instructor told her to adjust the locking bar on a Coreformer exercise machine.

She says she was then told to perform the “downward-facing dog” position, which puts extra force on the modified bar.

“After several repetitions of the exercise, the front support and locking bar dropped forward when she held it,” Robert Glancy KC said in legal filings at the Central London court.

Mrs Meron told the Evening standard: ‘The force of not locking the machine catapulted me forward. I heard my elbow snap over the sound of the crashing machine. It’s a sound I can never forget.’

The musician, who has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, says she has had elbow surgery, reconstructive procedures on her abdomen and has persistent wrist pain.

Ms. Meron says she has nerve damage and can’t separate two fingers on her left hand.

She says the accident in March 2019 derailed her international career, as she was unable to play.

“I’ve had to turn down almost every job I’ve been offered because the more I play, the worse my condition gets,” she said.

Ms Meron also claims she struggled to care for her one-year-old twin sons after her injuries.

The case is expected to go to trial in January.
