Billie Eilish and Finneas led the way in their responses to their Oscars 2024 nominations on Tuesday morning, as they earned a nod in the Best Original Song category.
The 22-year-old singer and her 26-year-old older brother earned their second Academy Awards nod for their song What Was I Made For? which was featured on the soundtrack of blockbuster Barbie.
The two siblings have already won an Oscar once before when they were recognized for the song No Time To Die from the James Bond film of the same name in 2022.

Finneas – born Finneas Baird O’Connell – then said: “We just woke up at 5am in LA so it feels a bit like we’re dreaming.”

The duo will compete against another Barbie song titled I’m Just Ken, performed by Ryan Gosling and written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, as both songs go head-to-head. The fire inside of Flamin’ Hot, It never went away from American Symphony, and Wahzazhe (A Song for My People) by Killers of the Flower Moon.
The 2024 Oscar nominations were announced Tuesday morning from the academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.
As expected, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon dominated the list.
Nolan’s three-hour opus received thirteen nominations and a nod for best picture; Nolan’s direction; acting nominations for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt; and several awards for the craftsmanship of the drama.
Barbie received eight nominations, including a nod for best picture; Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor; and two candidates for the best song. However, Gerwig fell outside the best director category.
Bradley Cooper and Cillian Murphy will compete for the prize for best actor in the leading role. Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti and Jeffrey Wright also received nominations.

Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer were nominated for best director, with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie snubbed.
Although Nolan is considered the big-budget auteur of his time, he never won an Academy Award, nor did any of his films win Best Picture.
American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things and The Zone of Interest earned best picture nominations.
The 96th Academy Awards will be held live on ABC on March 10 at 7 p.m., hosted for the fourth time by Jimmy Kimmel.
