Naby Keita reportedly to leave Liverpool for free in the summer transfer window
Jurgen Klopp is said to have blocked a move for Keita to leave the club in the January window.
Leipzig are understood to be interested in bringing him back to the Bundesliga, but Milan are currently in the lead in the race for his signature.
Leipzig were reported to have made a move for his services in January, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was keen for him to stick with Liverpool, who are already light in midfield.
But there has been no sign of Keita putting pen to paper on a new contract at Anfield, and he is free to discuss a pre-contract deal with another club abroad.
It is understood that there are several other parties interested in signing the Guinea international.
Milan are currently sitting sixth in Serie A and are going through a difficult season under Stefano Pioli after winning the league last year.
They lost 1-0 to rivals Inter on Sunday, their fourth loss in a row, following heavy defeats by Sassuolo, Lazio and Inter again in the cup.
