Abigail Breslin said she received “death threats” after attacking Katy Perry via X on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Scream Queens alumnus has been candid about the backlash she’s received after a tweet that some fans interpreted as criticism of the Fireworks singer over her collaboration with producer Dr. Luke on her upcoming album.
Dr. Luke was accused of sexual assault and other forms of abuse by Kesha in a 2014 lawsuit. He denied the allegations and the parties reached a settlement in 2023.
“So I made a post condemning abusers and supporting an artist I love… and apparently that means I get death threats… cool,” Abigail posted.
Hours earlier, the star tweeted: “All I’m saying is… working with known abusers in any industry just contributes to the narrative that men can do horrible things and get away with it. Btw, I love @KeshaRose and she put on one of the best shows I’ve ever been to last year.

While the Oscar nominee didn’t explicitly mention Katy or Dr. Luke in her post, some observers concluded she may have been referring to the duo, since Perry’s new song Woman’s World was co-written and produced by Dr. Luke.
Abigail was quick to respond to criticism of her initial tweet, sharing, “OMGGGGG guys really…? I didn’t say anything horrible, everyone calm down.”
“I said I don’t support abusers. Crucify me. And I never said I have a great music career. God… calm down.”
However, the former Little Miss Sunshine student stressed that she wouldn’t let that stop her from posting about abusers.
“Also, I have long been an advocate against SA (sexual abuse) and DV (domestic violence),” she tweeted, “so I will not stop talking about it no matter how many of you tell me I am worthless, disgusting, and horrible.”
She later added, “I’m not going to stop speaking out about abuse. I’ve never said anything negative about your fave. Please relax.”
“I’m allowed to have a perspective. You can burn my career and treat me terribly, but I don’t know why. I stand by what I said. Gn.”
This comes after Abigail made headlines when she refused to work individually with Aaron Eckhart on the CIA thriller Classified, citing his “aggressive, demeaning and unprofessional” behavior on set, according to a November 2023 report.

Abigail gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Olive Hoover in the film Little Miss Sunshine, for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2007.
She also played the role of Libby Putney in Ryan Murphy’s 2015 horror comedy series Scream Queens.
Meanwhile, Katy is brushing off the criticism after reconnecting with Dr. Luke, with sources claiming she believes he is crucial to her successful musical comeback.
The 39-year-old Dark Horse hitmaker caused controversy last month when it was revealed that Dr. Luke, 50, co-produced her new single Woman’s World.
The song is being marketed as a feminist anthem, along with other songs from her upcoming sixth studio album.
But insiders claim that Katy was eager to collaborate with the Grammy-nominated producer – despite his lengthy lawsuit over sexual assault allegations – given their previous chart success with songs like I Kissed A Girl and Teenage Dream.
“She understands it’s controversial to work with Dr Luke again, but they work so well together and have such a good bond that she knows him in a different way to others,” a source told DailyMail.com.
“Her relationship with Dr. Luke is important. So the fact that she worked with him again is something she doesn’t worry about, even though there are plenty of fans who do.”

Last year, Dr. Luke settled a defamation lawsuit with Kesha after she alleged in a 2014 lawsuit that he sexually and physically abused her (pictured in 2011)
Dr. Luke – real name Łukasz Sebastian Gottwald – is responsible for many of Katy’s career-defining hits, including 2008’s I Kissed a Girl, 2010’s Teenage Dream and 2013’s Roar.
The music producer was embroiled in a bitter legal battle with Tik Tok singer Kesha, 37, for nearly a decade, starting in 2014, after she accused him of drugging and raping her in 2005.
In 2020, a New York state judge ruled against Kesha, claiming she had defamed her former producer with this claim. In 2021, an appeals court upheld that decision.
The couple eventually reached a settlement in June 2023, just a month before the case was set to go to trial.
