Abigail Breslin says she has received several death threats over a diss track she wrote about her ex-boyfriend and 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford.

The 27-year-old Little Miss Sunshine actress released her debut single 'You Suck' in 2014, and the lyrics were aimed at the Australian musician.

Breslin claims that after the song's release, she received hateful messages online, with people even appearing “outside” her home.

“It was the most traumatizing experience… because I wrote the song about him, basically because you're 17, 16, or 17… and I definitely had a much bigger idea of ​​what this relationship was than maybe. he thought,” she told Christy Romano on the video podcast series Vulnerable.

“I felt like I had been 'burned' by him somehow, and I wrote a really bad song about him called You Suck.”

Breslin added, “I didn't realize, though, that people would put two and two together so much; Little did I know it was going to be a huge boy band the week before I released it.

'I received death threats. People appeared outside my apartment. All this crazy, crazy stuff. I faced an onslaught of girls who literally hated me.”

She starts the song by singing, “I hate your stupid tattoo, I wish you would fly to the moon,” referring to a tattoo Clifford has on his arm.

She then sings, “I hate the scar above your eye, it looks like you're on drugs.”

In 2013, the guitarist took to Twitter to share a photo of a rather nasty looking gash above his eye, writing: “This was ages ago but I just want to show you all how much it hurts lol I think it's a permanent scar is.'

The lyrics then continue with a scathing attack on the pop rock singer, with the lines “you really need to learn to wash your hair” and “you're just a stupid boy who's bleaching your hair.”

Michael is known for his signature scruffy locks, which he regularly bleaches and colours, having previously sported green, pink and red locks.

“Thanks for the tickets to your show,” Abigail sings, before adding, “I just wanted to let you know that all your bandmates are hotter than you.”

The lyrics led to 5 Seconds of Summer fans defending Michael, with hundreds of admirers taking to Twitter to attack Abigail, with one user writing: 'Abigail Breslin is just a cheap, useless version of Taylor Swift.'

Clifford later responded to the song, tweeting, “I didn't find your joke song funny.”

Breslin and Clifford were first spotted together in August 2013, after the Teen Choice Awards.

They were seen leaving Craig's Restaurant in West Hollywood after the ceremony.

The couple have since moved on and are now happily married to other partners. Clifford is married to Crystal Leigh while Breslin tied the knot with businessman Ira Kunyansky last year.
