Abbie Chatfield sparks huge debate as she reveals the one thing she loves about her new boyfriend Adam Hyde – and hits back at claims it’s ‘controlling’

Abbie Chatfield has hit back at claims her boyfriend Adam Hyde was ‘controlling’ when she spoke openly about their new romance.

The 29-year-old Bachelor star shared a video on Instagram earlier this week in which she shares what she loves about her relationship with musician Adam.

In the lengthy footage, Abbie talks about how much she loves it when Adam orders food for her and her friends at a restaurant, helping to alleviate her ‘decision fatigue’.

She insisted she loved being a ‘princess’ in her relationship and went on to detail everything Adam would do for her, but her comments sparked a huge debate.

While some of her followers raved about the kind gesture, others found it to be “controlling.” Abbie didn’t hesitate to firmly debunk these accusations.

In the video, Abbie gives a candid insight into her relationship with the Peking Duk frontman and reveals how much of a “mental burden” he takes away from her.

“I really love being a princess. I love not having to order my own food at a restaurant, I don’t even look at the menu, I don’t have to look at it. Sometimes I do it for a little bit of excitement, this man orders for me,” she shared.

“He orders food, he orders food for me and my friends and it’s in the least controlling way, it’s so hot! He makes sure we get more rounds of drinks without us having to ask or wonder where everything is.”

Abbie Chatfield has responded to claims her boyfriend Adam Hyde’s actions are ‘controlling’ as she revealed in a candid new video how he will order food for her at a restaurant

She explained: ‘He says, ‘Do you want me to order?’, we say, ‘Yes,’ he orders and then he goes to my girlfriend and says, ‘Did I miss anything, what do you think?’ and she says, ‘No, I like it,’ he says, ‘Abbie, what do you think?’.’

Abbie said Adam will tell her what time to leave the house, book flights for her and find restaurants for her to go to. She describes herself as the CEO in their relationship, while he is the manager.

“I don’t make any decisions, I can do it if I want, he checks to make sure it’s okay with me. But he gets it done, 99 percent of the time,” she raved.

In a caption, she added: “Hey y’all knew that when you date someone it’s supposed to lighten the mental burden not add to it???? But you can still have autonomy and have the final say in decisions??? Please stop mothering these men!!!!!!!!!!!!”

However, her comments have divided her fans, who have taken to the comments to share their opinions, with some saying it sounded “controlling.”

One wrote: ‘I’m so confused. How can it be okay if a partner orders for you at a restaurant? I would see that as controlling. I get decision fatigue, but I can’t imagine someone deciding what I’m going to eat at a restaurant.’

While another added: ‘I agree, I prefer to choose myself, thanks.’

Abbie, however, immediately responded strongly to the claims, insisting that she always has the final say and saying that Adam just wants to help her not feel overwhelmed.

She wrote: ‘I explain it’s decision fatigue and he gives orders and then asks if he missed anything. He does 99% of the work and I approve it! Like I said, I’m the CEO hahahaha.

“When I have the final say, I’m out of control. If I want to order something, I just do it. I don’t have to ask to order, but he knows that ordering food can be overwhelming for me sometimes.

“Like I said in the video, there have been guys who have done it TO me and not cared about what I actually wanted. That’s controlling, but Adam does it FOR me so I have one less task and I add what I want at the end.”

Other fans agreed with her and raved about Adam’s actions and congratulated Abbie on her new relationship.

One wrote: “I feel relieved for you deep down. Why are we always the default person,” while another said: “Not having to know what time it is??? Such a dream.”

A third commented: ‘His mother deserves a medal for raising her son so well!’, while a fifth said: ‘Goals!! Where are more men like this?’

‘Oh I love this!!! I would do anything for a relationship like this. This here is a real man, not a boy. I love this for you,’ added another.

After weeks of speculation, Abbie confirmed her romance with singer Adam earlier this year. The two partners have been very close ever since.

She regularly shares love photos and tributes to him on social media, and he is also a guest on her podcast It’s A Lot, where she talks about their romance.

Earlier this month, Abbie sweetly shared Stellar Magazine that her relationship with Adam is the best she’s ever had.

“It’s not like other people I’ve had affairs with. And this might sound a little weird, but he’s had a bigger career than I have,” she said amid concerns from fans that Adam was “using” her for fame.

“I don’t think he’s using me for anything. He’s successful in his own way. I think it’s cool that I’m with him, not the other way around.”

Abbie was friends with Adam for two years before they started dating, which she says helped build trust between them.

“I think it’s different with Adam because I trust the strength of our relationship. But also, us hanging out together is not a big, new thing. We’ve been hanging out in public for years,” she said.
