Abbie Chatfield isn’t a fan of horse racing – and says she turned down a significant payday to show up at a racing carnival.

The former Bachelor star posted to Instagram Stories, wondering why celebrities were attending Derby Day at the Melbourne Cup Carnival this weekend.

“Guys, I thought we were done with the races,” the 27-year-old criticized in a video clip on Sunday.

“I thought that was nothing more. Like, why do so many people go to the races. Damn it?’ she added.

Abbie then posted a second clip where she said she’d gotten “snarky comments” from people asking her via direct messages (DMs) if she’d even been invited.

‘Yes, I was offered money to go. Lots of money, I said ‘f**k the races’, Abbie said in the clip.

A procession of major celebrities came to Derby Day on Saturday, including actress Elsa Pataky, model Nicole Trunfio and television star Alison Langdon.

Model Simone Holtznagel, AFL WAG Tayla Damir, The Block star Sharon Johal, model Erin Holland and designer Pip Edwards were almost among the familiar faces.

Horse racing has remained a controversial topic, with many labeling the sport as “cruel” and criticizing the presence of celebrities at race day events.

Instead, Abbie performed Saturday night at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards 2022 in Sydney.

She was the prom beauty in a lingerie-inspired ensemble worn with a frilly corset and sheer duster, but revealed she was only too happy to be solo at the event.

“I’m not looking for a relationship at all. I want to be single for a year,” she told Daily Mail Australia at the event.
