Abbie Chatfield reveals she is ‘in therapy and hates herself’ amid ongoing battle with work addiction
Abbie Chatfield has revealed she has entered therapy after turning away from lucrative work opportunities due to her battle with 'workaholism'.
The former Bachelor star, one of Australia's most in-demand celebrities, made the revelation on her It's A Lot podcast while interviewing Alexis Fernandez about narcissists.
During the chat, Alexis revealed that she has written two books, including one titled The Neuroscience of Self-Love.
“I obviously haven't read that book because I'm still in therapy and I hate myself,” Abbie said.
“I'll send you one,” Alexis joked as Abbie replied, “Thanks, I need it.”

Abbie and Alexis then discussed the nine symptoms of a narcissist and how to deal with a narcissist.
They also explored narcissism in relationships and being friends with someone who is on the receiving end of narcissism.
It comes after Abbie recently turned away from lucrative work opportunities due to her battle with 'workaholism'.
The first signs of trouble for Abbie started in December last year when she pulled out of a live podcast recording at Victoria's Beyond the Valley music festival – just hours before she was due to appear on stage.
She posted a statement on Instagram the morning of the event, saying she was feeling completely “exhausted” after a challenging year and needed some time alone to refresh.
Abbie continued to scale back her schedule by putting her fledgling clothing line on hiatus earlier this year.
This came after a wave of complaints from customers claiming they had not received their orders and had been ignored when requesting refunds.
“I'm just too busy to run a clothing brand properly at the moment, so I'm taking a break from it until my brain isn't so (busy with it) anymore.” I need a break,” she told Rolling Stone in September.

“It's just been put on hold because I can't add anything else to my plate at the moment.”
Just a few months later, Abbie kissed her lucrative radio career goodbye, a move that shocked the industry.
Despite the success of her Hit Network show Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield, the 28-year-old left the grueling gig to focus on her podcast, her budding television career and her personal life.
Meanwhile, Abbie also quit a lucrative book deal she signed with Affirm Press in 2020 to write a feminist manifesto.
“I tried to write, I couldn't write anything,” she admitted in March.
The reality star said she even attended a writers' retreat to help out, but got bored and left two days early before completely finalizing the deal.

According to Yahoo, Abbie could have earned anywhere from $100,000 to $150,000 as a first-time author.
Amid the turmoil in her career, Abbie took part in a luxury health retreat in Thailand to treat her 'real workaholism'.
“I'm absolutely exhausted and burned out at the beginning of this year for a number of reasons,” she said at the time.
“But I've been here about five days now and I think I've realized that my priorities need to shift a little bit. To be honest, I've taken on so many jobs and roles.”
She continued, “I'm trying to figure out what I want to do and what I don't want to do and I'm trying not to force myself to work much harder than I have to.”
Just a few months later, Abbie kissed her lucrative radio career goodbye amid rumors of unrest on the show after her co-host and executive producer both quit the gig.
