Abbie Chatfield reveals she has ‘facial dysmorphia’ after hours on set with hair and makeup

Abbie Chatfield has revealed she suffers from facial dysmorphia and “can’t remember what she looks like” after spending hours on set getting her hair and makeup done.

The former Bachelor star turned radio host and podcaster revealed in a candid new chat that she recently had a “borderline breakdown” a few months ago due to her workload and how it affected her.

Abbie is also a TV presenter and is the new host of Binge’s reality series FBOY Island and also acted as a judge on The Masked Singer Australia.

She said Audible Original Podcast, POWER Talksthat while she spends so much time getting her hair and makeup done on set looking glamorous, it’s taking a toll on her mentally.

“I had a pretty big breakdown a few months ago on the edge of how I couldn’t remember what I looked like, which is really bizarre,” she told podcast host and personal coach Kemi Nekvapil.

“Being on TV and having someone else do your hair and makeup every day sounds fun, but it gives me facial dysmorphia if that’s anything.”

Abbie said with so much going on in her work life, she doesn’t know what part of herself to channel each day.

“Everyone has different aspects of themselves that they can explore in a non-commercialized way and if it’s like, ‘Hey, come to work and be this part of yourself'” and it’s a different part every day, then it’s difficult to know which part is actually you and what is actually produced by producers.’

She added: “Every time I see everyone I haven’t seen in a while they ask how I’m doing and all I say is ‘tired.’

The TV and radio host, 27, shared several photos on Instagram from her recent shoot for Stellar magazine, revealing in the caption that she had been in a bad place mentally on the day of the shoot.

“Love these photos, Stellar’s team are some of the best in the country, but these photos were taken while I was having breaks to go outside to cry,” she wrote.

“Lately my mental health has been the worst in years. The first quarter of the year brought a level of work stress that I had never experienced.

“All of this led to me constantly having dark thoughts that I couldn’t shake. The morning of this shoot I cried all the way up there.”

She said her increasing workload is bothering her, but her hectic schedule doesn’t allow her to take time off to recover.

Many of Abbie’s celebrity friends were quick to support her, pleading with the Hit Network host to prioritize her mental health.

“I pray you can find some time off to recalibrate and ground yourself,” said Academy of Dance star Dena Kaplan.

In December, Abbie revealed she was on bed rest after canceling her live podcast appearance on Beyond The Valley due to mental and physical exhaustion.
