Abbie Chatfield returns to social media five hours after announcing she was ‘deleting the apps’ and taking a break

Abbie Chatfield recently announced she would be taking a break from all social media, only to return five hours later.

The FBoy Island star, 29, shared the news that she was ‘deleting the apps’ via her Instagram Story on Boxing Day, following a heartfelt video of a gift exchange with her boyfriend, Adam Hyde.

In the video, Abbie started by acknowledging that some people might not care about her break, saying, “There’s going to be some people who say, ‘Nobody cares.’

“If you’re interested, I’m letting you all know that I won’t be appearing on social media for the next week,” she added.

Abbie explained that she had not accessed her TikTok or Instagram accounts for several days and only returned to post the emotional Christmas gift video.

‘I haven’t logged in at all for four days. I deleted the apps. “I thought, ‘The chookies need to see Adam’s video,’ but I’m deleting the apps again now,” she revealed.

Abbie encouraged her friends to reach out to her via text if they wanted to reach out to her, as she shared that she was taking a break from social media due to the overwhelming negativity directed at her.

“I just want to get away from everyone,” Abbie confided.

‘Not everyone, from someone who says something negative about me or to me every day. You know what I mean?’

Her social media hiatus was short-lived, however, as Abbie returned to posting to her Instagram Story just five hours after her exit video.

After sharing some quick Christmas-themed photos, Abbie posted two selfies showing off some jewelry.

In one photo, she wore a dainty necklace from Australian designer Kaarme Jewels, while another featured a pair of vintage earrings from Hail The Maison.

On Boxing Day, Abbie shared an intimate video on Instagram of Adam presenting her with a horseshoe necklace.

The family significance of the jewelry made the FBoy Island star emotional.

The necklace, designed by Melbourne-based artist Millie Savage, is a replica of the necklace worn by Abbie’s late grandmother, Carmel.

Abbie’s new piece took on even more meaning with the addition of her and Adam’s birthstones.

When Abbie realized the meaning of the gift in the video, she was overwhelmed with emotions and struggled to find the words.

Captioning the tender video, Abbie admitted she had never been so emotional receiving a gift.

“I’ve never cried so much over a gift,” she wrote.

‘Adam never met my grandmother, but he knows how much she means to me. My mother has been wearing my grandmother’s horseshoe necklace since she passed away.

Abbie also paid a sweet tribute to her grandmother, revealing that Carmel had been one of her strongest role models.

“My grandmother was my favorite person in the world and a huge reason for the beliefs I hold so strongly,” she continued.

“She was an orphan who became a dentist in Queensland in the 1950s, 30 years before women could even have a bank account.”

She then praised her thoughtful boyfriend, who even enlisted the help of Abbie’s mother to make the dream gift a reality.

This isn’t the first time Abbie has decided to take a break from social media.

In the wake of Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election in November, Abbie tearfully announced she was quitting her social media platforms.

Abbie shared a short clip of her staring blankly into the camera as a “tweet” was superimposed over the image that read, “I saw a tweet that said the only thing an American hates more than a rapist is a woman. ‘

In the caption of the clip, Abbie revealed that the news that Trump would rise to the White House again was enough to make him quit all internet-related media – albeit for a short period of time.

“Here’s why it hurts (and so much more),” Abbie wrote. “Anyway, I won’t be on the internet for the next two days.”
