Abbie Chatfield recalls bizarre past dating story… though some fans question if it’s true: ‘I don’t think you’re silly enough to truly believe that’

Abbie Chatfield has never been backward in bringing out her romantic life.

And the 28-year-old podcaster shared a bizarre story from her past about an ex and the elaborate lie he made up to avoid meeting her family.

Abbie shared the video on Instagram, as part of a sponsorship for dating app Bumble, and recalled her then-boyfriend turning down a holiday with her and her clan because he had already booked a trip to Antarctica.

The FBoy Island host explained that the couple had been on and off for “years” and one Christmas she invited him on holiday to meet her friends and family.

The friend – who Abbie did not identify – declined her offer with the excuse that he was heading to the South Pole.

Abbie couldn’t shake her suspicions about his apology and discovered the truth when she checked his friends’ social media over the New Year.

She found photos of her lover holidaying with his friends on the Gold Coast.

“Not quite Antarctica, huh?” Abbie asked sarcastically as she continued the story.

Finally, the reality star confronted the shameless boyfriend.

“All this man did was say, ‘I’m sorry, honey,'” she said, clearly not enjoying the memory.

Meanwhile, Abbie’s followers were quick to call out the reality star for the sincerity of the story.

“Nice story for Bumble, but I don’t think you’re stupid enough to actually believe he went to Antarctica,” one fan wrote.

Another follower agreed, saying: ‘Who’s going to Antarctica? I already knew it was a scam.”

“At least choose a viable country lol,” wrote another.

It comes after news that her dating show FBoy Island Australia will return to screens for a second season in 2024.

The controversial dating show is set to make a comeback, with Abbie returning as presenter.

Abbie told The Daily Telegraph that the series is a ‘perfect combination of being an easy-to-watch dating show, but also unafraid to poke fun at itself and its contestants.’

“I think this show has really given a voice to a lot of people, especially young women who have been harassed by Fboys and in myself or the contestants who called them out, they felt vindicated and vindicated,” she said.
