A hair care expert has revealed the three common mistakes you should stop making when washing your hair.

Abbey Yung, from the US, listed reverse washing and putting straight hair on a hair towel when wet as some of the most dangerous habits for locks.

The 28-year-old said habits can prevent your hair from properly absorbing nutrients and can cause damage and breakage.

Abbey transformed her damaged hair in just two years by changing her hair care routine and giving up harmful practices.

He listed reverse washing practices and putting straight hair in a hair towel when wet as some of the most dangerous habits for hair. The young Ella transformed her damaged hair in just two years by changing her hair care routine and ditching harmful practices.

“Stop making these laundry day mistakes,” Abbey said when uploading her popular video.

His number one for hair care is the reverse wash.

Reverse washing is a recent trend where hair enthusiasts apply conditioner before shampooing, but Abbey said this can be very damaging to your hair.

Instead, she recommends always finishing with conditioner so that your hair strands are adequately covered and protected.

His second piece of advice is to never apply Olaplex or other bond repair products before shampooing.

She said that shampooing first removes buildup of residue and oil so that the bond repair product can penetrate the hair strands and “work properly.”

Her last piece of advice is to never wrap a towel around your hair after washing it.

Instead, she recommends squeezing excess water out of your hair before you wrap it in a towel to reduce heat damage from blow-drying.

Abbey’s Top Hair Care Tips

1. Never reverse wash – always finish with conditioner so hair strands are properly covered and protected.

2. Never apply Olaplex or other bond repair products before shampooing – shampooing first removes buildup of residue and oil so that the bond repair product can penetrate the hair strands.

3. Never wrap your hair in a towel after washing it. Squeeze excess water from your hair before wrapping it in a towel to reduce heat damage from blow-drying.

Abbey previously shared her hair wash and treatment routine that helped her transform her hair in two years.

She washes her hair only once every seven days and has a specific routine that she follows.

The young woman has a hard water filter in her shower head to block minerals that prevent her hair from absorbing nutrients.

She uses an oil like coconut oil the night before her wash, unless she’s using the K18 treatment, in which case she makes sure to use a clarifying shampoo in her wash.

Abbey uses a scalp treatment that contains salicylic acid and massages it into her head.

She then combs her hair and makes sure it is very wet before she shampoos it.

The expert emulsifies her shampoo by rubbing it into her hands before applying it to the head, and works it into the hair in sections.

He often uses K18 shampoo due to its low PH level.
