ABBA tells Trump to stop using music at rallies after former president used songs like ‘The Winner Takes It All’ and ‘Money, Money, Money’ to pump up support
Members of Swedish pop group ABBA have asked Donald Trump to stop using their music and videos during his campaign rallies, the band’s record label said.
ABBA hits such as “The Winner Takes It All,” “Money, Money, Money” and “Dancing Queen” were played at a rally of Trump and his running mate JD Vance on July 27 in Minnesota, accompanied by videos.
“We, along with the members of ABBA, have discovered that videos have been released in which ABBA’s music has been used at Trump events and have requested that such use be immediately removed and taken offline,” Universal Music, the band’s record label, said in a statement.
It was stated that no permission or license had been granted to the Trump campaign.

The band members declined to comment further, a spokesman said, adding that they fully supported Universal’s statement.
Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Several artists, or their representatives, have objected to having their music played at Trump events over the years, including the late American singer-guitarist Tom Petty, British singer-songwriter Adele and the rock band REM.
In April, the label of the late Irish singer and activist Sinéad O’Connor also demanded that the Trump campaign stop using her music.
Canadian singer Celine Dion and her label filed a similar complaint earlier this month, calling the use of her performance “unauthorized.”
