Abandoned $82,000 Cybertruck on busy street becomes tourist attraction with makeshift memorials

An $82,000 Tesla Cybertruck left on the side of the road in Washington became an unlikely tourist attraction.

The electric EV, known to its fans as ‘CyberStuck’, was abandoned on a busy Seattle street in September, likely due to a damaged rear end and what appeared to be a suspension failure.

While the owner considered it a piece of junk, others traveled far and wide to leave the dead car flowers and even a fake stone cross that read “RIP.”

The fame led to it inspiring a sub-Reddit: r/CyberStuck and earning a pin on Google Maps.

An admirer of the Cybertruck reportedly ran into the owner one day and discovered that a child had hit the vehicle and they were still in the process of getting insurance to repair it or have it towed.

Some visitors placed makeshift memorials around the dead CyberTruck, including a fake stone cross that read “RIP” and a bouquet of flowers

“I stopped by there tonight on my way to dinner. The owner was outside and wasn’t happy that we were there,” the Reddit user wrote.

“He said a kid had a CT scan a few weeks ago and was still trying to figure out insurance to get it fixed. He said people had been harassing him and his wife for the past few days and he didn’t understand why.”

“We told him his truck was all over Reddit and he got even angrier. We left pretty quickly.”

Shortly thereafter, city officials placed an orange sticker on the windshield notifying the owner that the vehicle would be towed unless it was moved.

But the owner did not respond to the report. Sometime during the night before September 10, the Cybertruck was towed to an unknown location.

A video posted to the r/CyberStuck sub Reddit showed the truck strapped to the back of a Lang Towing tow truck and being pulled down a highway with hazards flashing.

Another Reddit user posted a photo of the empty spot where the Cybertruck once stood with the caption “It’s Gone!”

“Even though I’m not in Seattle, I miss it already,” one person commented.

Since the truck was towed, Google has removed the Google Maps pin.

It is still unclear what caused the damage that caused this CyberTruck to break down on the side of the road.

But some owners of the futuristic EV are experiencing unexpected problems that point to design flaws, including suspension failures, according to Passionate driving guide.

It appears that a suspension failure left this particular CyberTruck stranded on the side of the road in Seattle, with the rear wheels pointing awkwardly inwards.

This may have been caused by a collision, but that has not been confirmed. And according to Driven Car Guide, the fact that the truck’s body panels appear undamaged suggests otherwise.

Tesla’s Cybertruck has been plagued with problems since its launch in November 2023, with one failure in June leading to the recall of more than 11,000 vehicles.

The recall followed reports of the pedal cover sliding off the accelerator pedal and catching on the carpet.
