Zach Wilson once said that if the Jets sign a new quarterback, he will “in practice make that dude’s life hell every day.” But Wilson didn’t know they were going to sign Aaron Rodgers.

And as Rodgers arrives in New York ahead of his official unveiling on Wednesday afternoon, he has indicated that he enjoys Wilson’s challenge.

Rodgers liked a tweet from Barstool Sports republishing Wilson’s now infamous quotes as he is about to start a new chapter in his remarkable career.

Wilson himself has not commented on the move, but has rather underlined his admiration for Rodgers.

In a speech last October, Wilson said, “I’ve watched him since I was a little kid, trying to emulate the way he throws and the way he plays the game.

“We didn’t have an NFL team in Utah. I wouldn’t say I was a Packers fan. I was just an Aaron Rodgers fan. I grew up watching him.

“I always loved watching their games because of him and a little bit of where he was. He was a quarterback that I tried to replicate and steal things from.”

Jets GM Joe Douglas said Tuesday that Wilson will get better by working with Rodgers.

“I think this is going to be a great thing for Zach,” Douglas said of his backup quarterback — the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 Draft.

“Zach’s ceiling is unlimited. The opportunity to shadow and be a Hall of Fame QB on a first ballot will be a great opportunity and experience.”

Douglas was also excited about the prospect of Rodgers leading the Jets into the 2023 season.

Speaking on Tuesday, Jets GM Joe Douglas raved about the prospect of Rodgers arriving.

‘Finally [we have] have been able to get what we think is a historic transaction for this franchise,” Douglas told reporters Tuesday.

“Aaron is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play this game and if you get a chance to add a player of that caliber you will always look at it.

“We are all delighted to add someone of his character and his abilities.”

New York will receive not only Rodgers, but also the Packers’ No. 15 seed and a fifth-round pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft when the deal is finalized.

In return, Green Bay will receive the Jets’ 13th overall draft pick, plus the second and sixth rounds, and a conditional second-round pick in 2024, which will become a first if Rodgers plays 65 percent of snaps this season.

“We are pleased with how this deal has been shaped,” Douglas said. “In any negotiation, I don’t think anyone walks away thinking you’ve won everything. But in the end, our goal from the start was to add Aaron to the team.”
