Aaron Rodgers said he was ‘manifesting’ a Super Bowl run for the Jets in interview with John McEnroe that aired just MINUTES before he suffered season-ending Achilles injury
Aaron Rodgers’ heartbreaking Achilles injury just minutes into his career with the New York Jets was exacerbated by a pre-game interview in which he opened up about “manifesting” a Super Bowl run with his new team.
In what turned out to be cruel timing, the 39-year-old played just a few minutes under the lights at MetLife Stadium against the Bills before being sacked by Leonard Floyd and suffering a serious injury as a result.
Rodgers was helped off the pitch and returned to the dressing room shortly afterwards, with MRI tests expected on Tuesday to confirm the devastating news of his season-ending injury.
Before the game, the Packers legend said in an interview with John McEnroe: “I play because I love the game and because I am extremely competitive. When I step on that field, I expect greatness from myself and my teammates.
‘I believe in the power of manifestation, making your heart’s desires come true. First you have to believe it… first we have to believe that we can go running, and then once we start believing and start playing the right way, then you see everyone else starts believing.

‘You won’t say, “What if things don’t go well?” And when everyone else in town believes in it, it creates a never-ending, unstoppable wave of positivity and energy.”
Unfortunately for Rodgers, however, things did not go well on Monday night due to his personal expectations for the season. The Jets’ $75 million man will likely have to watch from the sidelines as a teammate starts under center.
Coach Robert Saleh said after the match: ‘Concerned about his Achilles tendon, MRI will probably confirm what we think is already happening. But it’s not good.’

The Jets still won a nothing short of sensational game at home against the Bills on Monday night, with Xavier Gipson clinching the win in overtime with a 65-yard punt return touchdown that sent MetLife Stadium into pandemonium.
But it had only taken a few minutes for the life to be sucked out of the room at the start of the match. Rodgers dropped back on first down from the Jets’ 43-yard line and attempted to roll out to his left before being sacked by Floyd for a loss of 10 yards. But his left foot appeared to get stuck in the Jets’ grass as he was being tackled.
The quarterback hit the ground and grimaced as he briefly climbed back to his feet before stopping and dropping back down to sit on the turf.
He had to help when Zach Wilson went out to replace him just 3:45 into the game. Rodgers, 39, headed straight into the medical tent in scenes that left the entire NFL stunned.
