Fox Sports analyst and former New York Jets WR Keyshawn Johnson has confidently predicted that Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return from his torn Achilles tendon.
“Star athletes don’t end up like this,” Johnson said on Fox’s “Undisputed.” “Maybe they’re losing a play-off game and they’re waving to the crowd as they walk to the tunnel. And cried at the press conference.
“But they don’t end up with an injury if there’s still gas in the tank. They figure out how to rehabilitate, no matter how difficult it may be for a man in his late thirties getting ready to reach his forties.
‘But he still has a desire to play football. If he hadn’t still had the desire to play football, he never would have fought his way out of Green Bay and chosen the New York Jets… He’s coming back stronger than ever.”
As even the most casual NFL fans have seen thus far, Rodgers tore his Achilles just four plays into his Jets debut after being sacked by Buffalo Bills DE Leonard Floyd.

But Johnson has tipped the 39-year-old to come back stronger after the injury
Rodgers recently vowed to “rise again” in his first public comments since the injury, seemingly indicating that he does indeed plan to return to the field next season once he is healthy.
Meanwhile, Jets head coach Robert Saleh not only doubled down on the fact that Zach Wilson would be the starting QB, but also sternly said, “I don’t know why people are trying to put an obituary under our name.”
Wilson was the Jets starter in recent years but was demoted to a backup after a terrible season that led to New York trading for Rodgers in the NFL’s story of the summer.
The plan for the 2021 No. 2 overall pick was to learn from Rodgers this season, but that plan quickly disappeared after the latter’s calf reverberated before going down and having to be wheeled back by trainers.
Rodgers’ friend and ESPN personality Pat McAfee also recently indicated that Rodgers is “just as devastated as the rest of us.”
