Aaron Rodgers gushes over ‘dream’ start with the Jets: ‘I’m just pinching myself’

Newly acquired Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently called his long-awaited transfer to New York a dream, during another appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

Rodgers was traded to the Jets from the Green Bay Packers days before last week’s NFL Draft after the two sides spent more than a month in negotiations.

“It was great,” said Rodgers. ‘Everything is new. It’s like the first day of school every day.

“There are new people to meet, you have to figure out your routine, where the laundry goes, mail, cleats, sneakers and all that stuff. Everything is new, exciting and fun.’

“I just pinch myself for days. I can’t believe it’s real sometimes. It sure has been a dream to be here. I definitely feel energized to be in the building.”

Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets along with the Packers’ number 15 pick and a fifth-rounder in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

In return, Green Bay receives the Jets’ 13th overall draft pick, a second-round pick that becomes No. 42 overall, a sixth-round pick, and a conditional second-round pick for 2024, which will become a first when Rodgers plays. 65 percent of the photos this season.

New York turned that number 15 into edge rusher Will Mcdonald IV from Iowa State, while the Packers turned the 13th selection into edge rusher Luke Van Ness.

The four-time MVP has already made the most of his time in New York City, where he attended for the first time the Rangers’ playoff game against the New Jersey Devilish.

He then returned to Madison Square Garden on Sunday night for Game 1 of the New York Knicks’ semifinal series against the Miami Heat before also showing up for Game 2 on Tuesday night.

The NFL veteran received a warm welcome to New York as the MSG crowd cheered loudly when his face was shown on the big screen.

Looking a bit humbled, the signal caller smiled at the camera and waved to his adoring fans.

He was joined on Sunday by his new teammate Allen Lazard, who, like Rodgers, has joined the Jets from the Green Bay Packers.

Lazard represented yet another New York team with the wide receiver wearing a Yankees cap delivering the perfect crossover with the MLB franchise logo on the front in Jets green.

Meanwhile, he had another new teammate by his side for the Game 2 tying game on Tuesday, while Sauce Garden was courtside with his new quarterback.

However, on Tuesday, Rodgers made sure his comments were not misinterpreted or distorted in a way that made it look like he was shooting at the Packers.

“That doesn’t detract from the 18 wonderful years I spent in Green Bay,” said the 39-year-old.

“How can you wish for anything better than that, and just such a special place to play.

“But 18 years in the same place, you get used to everything, and everything is the same in many ways, which certainly has its beauty, but with everything new, and embracing the change, and things that are not so comfortable anymore as before, it was very nice.’

New York began Phase 2 of their offseason program this week, and while participation is voluntary, Rodgers was on the field throwing to receivers.

This summer, the Jets acquired two new weapons for him to throw at this year in former Packers wideout Allen Lazard and former Kansas City Chiefs pass catcher Mecole Hardman for Rodgers to throw at.

Rodgers was known for not showing up during the off-season until it was mandatory during his stay in Green Bay.

The 39-year-old QB is also said to have formed a close relationship with Lazard during their time with the Packers and the duo were spotted together when Rodgers attended a Rangers playoff game and Game 1 of the Knicks vs Heat series.

He was also seen attending Game 2 with the Jets cornerback Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner
