Aaron Ramsey has insisted there is more to come from him in a Nice shirt, but has remained mum about his future beyond the end of the season.
The midfielder signed for the Ligue 1 side last summer after Juventus terminated his contract.
After some initial struggles for form at the club, the former Arsenal star has gained confidence, which has coincided with the arrival of caretaker manager Didier Digard.
Digard, who enjoyed a brief stint at Middlesbrough as a player, was put in charge in January following the sacking of Lucian Farve and Nice have yet to lose a game since his appointment.
Ramsey has played in all seven of Digard’s games as boss, but the 32-year-old believes there is still more to come from him on this team.
Aaron Ramsey claims there is more to come from him after finding his best form for Nice
The club have yet to lose a game to Didier Digard following his appointment in January.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Ramsey said: “I think you can always improve as a player. I will always try to work on the weaknesses in my game.
At the moment I feel confident and I think I’m playing well, but there’s still more to do. I would like to score some more goals right now.
Naturally, I always want to improve somewhere and reach new heights. There will come a stage where progression will not be so easy, but as long as I feel good, fit, healthy and knowing what I am capable of, I will try to do it. ‘
Ramsey has played 23 times for the French team this season, scoring once, and this recent run of fine form has seen the club rise to eighth in the Ligue 1 table.
There are now doubts as to whether the Welsh star will sign a new contract with the club, whose contract is due to expire in the summer. However, Ramsey declined to reveal anything when asked about an extended stay at the Riviera.
“I think right now it’s important to focus on the next game, which is Monaco and take each game as it comes.” he added she.
“I think that’s been the way we’ve approached things in recent weeks and we’ve had some really good results, so it’s important to build on that and continue to progress as a team and see where it takes us.”
There’s still a long way to go this season, there’s still a lot to play for, and we’ll do everything we can to try to finish the season as strong as possible, and get as far as we can in Europe and see where we can go from there.
Good hope they continue their unbeaten run when they travel to Monaco tomorrow, and also have an upcoming clash with Shariff in the Europa Conference League round of 16.
Asked if European qualification for next season would have an impact on Ramsey’s decision to re-sign for the club, the Welshman was coy about the possibility but praised the direction Nice are taking.
Ramsey’s contract at the club expires in the summer, but he has yet to commit to a new deal.
Adding: ‘I think this club has the ambition to compete at the highest level and you can see that with the intention of the people who make the decisions.
They want Nice to be competing at the highest level, competing for the league, competing for the Champions League and the sky is the limit.’
“Everything is getting going and these things take a little bit of time to get going and gain momentum.
But you can clearly see the changes. If everything continues as it is, it will be difficult to stop Nice in a few years. Hopefully things will progress the way they are right now. Let’s see where Nice can go.
