Yankees slugger Aaron Judge said he has some “chosen words” about the Blue Jays broadcasters labeling him a potential cheater Monday night.
Judge looked sideways during an eighth-inning batting in Toronto, with Blue Jays broadcasters Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez suggesting he capitalized on plate-stealing.
Asked about that idea the next day, the 2022 MVP wasn’t too happy.
“I have some choice words on that, but I’m just going to keep that off the record,” Judge said before Tuesday night’s game.
“I’m not happy about it, but people can say what they want,” he added.

Aaron Judge was questioned about watching the bench during an at-bat against the Blue Jays
“I have one more game to play, I have things to do. I told you what happened and everyone can tell their own story about it if they want.’
After Monday’s game, Judge said he looked into the Yankees’ dugout to see which of his teammates was disrupting his at bat by yelling at plate umpire Clint Vondrak. Vondrak had just ejected Boone for arguing with Judge.
Toronto broadcasters noticed Judge peeking into his own dugout before hitting his second home run of the game and speculated he was looking for some sort of signal, replaying the incident and wondering where his eyes had gone.
‘What is that? What is he looking at?’ Shulman said on the live broadcast. ‘
And he did it more than once. Did you see what I saw? You don’t want to make accusations without knowing it, but…”
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said his team spoke with Major League Baseball about the positioning of New York’s base coaches.
Just before Judge’s at bat, Aaron Boone had been ejected for yelling at umpire Clint Vondrak
“There are boxes on the field for a reason,” he said.
While the manager said it was “a bit odd” that Judge looked away from the board, he also admitted that it’s up to his players to make sure they don’t accidentally give away the playground or boards.
“What’s fair is fair, I think, and if our guys are giving things away, we have to be better at it,” Schneider said.
“If things are being picked up from people who aren’t in places where they should be, then I think that’s where the line should be drawn.”
