New York Yankees star Aaron Judge knocked open the door of the visiting bullpen at Dodger Stadium as he made a spectacular running catch in the eighth inning in Saturday’s 6-3 victory over Los Angeles.

Judge, 30, might have saved a run for the Yankees with his sprint ball on JD Martinez’s liner in the right corner with Max Muncy on first base and no one out.

The AL MVP made the catch a moment before running into the bullpen door, which opened partially when he hit it, with a stadium staffer sitting behind it.

Judge hung onto the ball and stayed upright as he put one foot in the bullpen, but Muncy was allowed to move up to second, apparently due to Judge technically leaving the field of play.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone briefly debated the umpires’ decision to send Muncy down to second.

The Yankees were leading 5–3 at the time of Judge’s flyout, and reliever Michael King retired the Dodgers’ next two batters to send this high-profile interleague game into the ninth inning.

Judge hit his 19th homer of the season in the sixth for the Yankees, lining up a 113 mph line drive into the short left field porch at Chavez Ravine.

Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole went undefeated with six innings of four strikes before leaving early.

Jake Bauers also hit two two-run home runs for the Yankees, who recovered from an 8-4 loss on Friday night in the opener of the high-profile interleague series.

Oswaldo Cabrera also hit a homer for New York in the ninth inning off Dodgers left-hander Victor Gonzalez.

Cole (7-0) was sharp back in his native Southern California, striking out five with two walks and only allowing a run on David Peralta’s bloop RBI single. But the Yankees pulled Cole after an 80-pitch low season, apparently due to cramps.

Clay Holmes threw the ninth for his sixth save.

Michael Grove (0-2) accounted for four runs in five innings for the Dodgers.

Rookie Miguel Vargas had an RBI triple as Los Angeles lost for the third time in their last 17 home games.
