Aaron Judge says the New York Yankees team is “angry” with pitcher Jimmy Cordero after MLB suspended him for the remainder of the season for violating their domestic violence policy.
“I was pretty upset,” Judge said, according to MLB.Com reporter Bryan Hoch. “I know a lot of guys in the team are upset.
“This is in the hands of the league and the league has imposed the suspension. Hopefully he learns from this and becomes a better person.
“It’s a sad situation, just thinking about Cordero’s family, wife and children.
“It’s a tough situation you never, ever want anyone to go through.”

MLB has suspended Yankees pitcher Cordero, 31, for violating its domestic violence policy
Cordero has yet to speak out, but MLB said he has accepted his season-long suspension
MLB said the 31-year-old right-hander Cordero accepted the suspension and will miss the final 76 games of the season and the postseason. The Yankees said in a statement that they supported MLB discipline and that “there is no justification for domestic violence.”
Cordero was 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in one start and 30 relief appearances and has a salary of $720,000, the minimum in the major league.
A career journeyman, Cordero has been on the systems of a number of teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox.
He missed the 2021 season following Tommy John’s surgery while with the White Sox organization and spent 2022 with the Yankees’ Triple-A team at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Cordero has a career MLB ERA of 4.36.
Cordero is the first Yankee to be suspended under the domestic violence policy since New York co-pitcher Domingo German received an 81-game suspension he served in 2019 and 2020.
In all major league baseball history, 18 players have been suspended for domestic violence.
Cordero is the third New York Yankees member to be suspended under the policy, alongside German and Aroldis Chapman.

Cordero earns $720,000 for his role as a pitcher for the Yankees – he has one start and 30 relief appearances to his credit for the current season
Chapman was suspended 30 games after an alleged domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend in Florida.
No criminal charges were filed due to insufficient evidence, but the league suspended him anyway.
Later on Wednesday, the Yankees will host the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium.
