A$AP Rocky must appear in court to determine if he will stand trial for 2021 shooting

EXCLUSIVE: A$AP Rocky on the ropes? Rihanna’s baby daddy is ordered to return to court for a hearing where the judge will determine if he will stand trial for the shooting of former friend and fellow rapper A$AP Relli

A$AP Rocky has been ordered to return to court for a hearing to determine if he will stand trial for the alleged shooting of former friend and rapper A$AP Relli in 2021.

The 34-year-old, who is expecting his second child with superstar singer Rihanna, pleaded not guilty last August to two assault charges with a semi-automatic firearm stemming from the incident — and faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, is free on $550,000 bail but was not present Tuesday at a downtown Los Angeles criminal court where Judge Kerry White had scheduled a preliminary hearing for June 5.

The allegations stem from an altercation in Hollywood on November 6, 2021 between Rocky and former friend and fellow rapper A$AP Relli - real name Terrell Ephron - who was also a member of the rap group ASAP Mob

The allegations stem from an altercation in Hollywood in November 2021 between Mayers and fellow rapper Terrell Ephron, a fellow member of the rap group A$AP Mob that began in Harlem in 2006.

Prosecutors say Mayers pointed a gun at Ephron during the altercation and then fired it at him twice, injuring his hand.

Ephron has filed a civil lawsuit in which his lawyers say Mayers “pulled out a gun and purposefully pointed it in (Ephron’s) direction and fired several shots.”

Adding that Ephron “feared for his life,” the suit says he was “hit by bullets/fragments” that left him with injuries that required medical attention.

Mayers — who welcomed his first child with Rihanna, 35, last May — was arrested at LAX airport last April as he stepped off a private plane from Barbados where he had been vacationing with the multi-Grammy-winning singer.

Police detained him for a few hours on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, then released him on $550,000 bail and sent the case to the LA District Attorney’s to prosecute.

It wasn’t until the following August that LA DA George Gascon decided the allegations were serious enough to push for the status of misdemeanor, rather than a misdemeanor, which would only have meant a prison sentence of up to a year for each charge.

“Firing a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person being targeted, but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” Gascon said after the indictment was announced. .

“My office did not thoroughly review the evidence in this case and determine that the addition of a special firearms charge was warranted.”

Mayers is also subject to a protection order requiring him to stay away from Ephron for at least 100 years and not contact him.
