A meeting of AAP MPs will be held on Tuesday morning and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to tender his resignation after that, the party said.

The name of the new Prime Minister will be discussed during the meeting, the AAP said.

Kejriwal will meet Lt Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday at 4.30 pm, during which he is likely to submit his resignation.

Saxena has given Kejriwal an appointment for a meeting on Tuesday at 4.30 pm, official sources said on Monday.

“A meeting of AAP MPs will be held on Tuesday morning. The meeting will be held at Kejriwal’s official residence,” the party said.

Days after he was released on bail from Tihar Jail in the excise policy case, the AAP national convener on Sunday said he would resign within 48 hours and demanded snap elections in Delhi. He vowed not to sit on the chief minister’s chair until people give him a “certificate of honesty”.

Kejriwal had said he would hold a meeting with AAP MPs within a few days and a party leader would take over as chief minister.

The AAP leader had said he would become chief minister and Manish Sisodia his deputy only “if people say we are honest”.
