Inside the AACTA Awards 2024: Australia’s biggest stars set to attend screen industry’s night-of-nights as the ceremony makes its Queensland debut

The 2024 AACTA Awards kick off this Saturday in Queensland, with some of Australia’s biggest stars set to make an appearance.

For the first time ever, the Gold Coast has won the prestigious awards away from Sydney in a three-year deal.

This year’s ‘Oscars of Australia’ will take place in Surfers Paradise at the Home of the Arts (HOTA), where iconic actresses Margot Robbie and Cate Blanchett will be in attendance.

Margot, 33, arrived solo at Brisbane International Airport last Saturday, just a week after the ceremony.

She will receive the AACTA Trailblazer Award.

The 2024 AACTA Awards kick off this Saturday in Queensland, with some of Australia’s biggest stars set to make an appearance. Margot Robbie will receive the AACTA Trailblazer Award.

“Margot Robbie’s impact extends beyond her on-screen performances as she continues to shape stories and challenge industry norms,” the AACTA organization said.

“Her dedication to empowering women in film, combined with her talent and business acumen, cements Robbie as an influential figure in the entertainment world and a deserving recipient of the 2024 AACTA Trailblazer Award.”

The well-known American director and film producer Ron Howard will also be present during the 13th edition of the awards.

Meanwhile, Australian Rebel Wilson will host Saturday’s ceremony.

American singer Harry Connick Jr. will host the Industry Awards ceremony on Thursday evening.

Also expected to attend are Australian television stars Grant Denyer, Rove McManus and Julia Zemiro, who is hosting the reboot of Channel Ten’s Deal Or No Deal.

On Saturday evening the trio will take the stage as presenters.

Have you been paying attention? star Tim McDonald, comedian Tom Gleeson and New Zealand star Melanie Bracewell are other notable attendees, along with husband-and-wife team Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, who create and star in Colin From Accounts.
