Horrified, Arby’s employees discovered a woman’s body in a freezer at a Louisiana restaurant, police have revealed.
The body of a female staff member was discovered around 6 p.m. Thursday by colleagues at one of the fast food chain’s locations in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Footage shows how several police cars and agents are working outside the restaurant to find out what led to the discovery.
Police say they are investigating a ‘suspicious death’ after the remains of the staff member were found in the walk-in freezer. Her cause of death has not yet been determined.
“So it was an employee who discovered the deceased woman in the cooler, (and) the deceased is an employee of the restaurant,” New Iberia Police Capt. Leland Laserter to local news networks.
The body was discovered around 6 p.m. Thursday by employees of an Arby’s restaurant chain (pictured) in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Laseter said that, according to preliminary information, although the death is suspicious, no foul play is expected and added that the death may have been accidental.
“A situation like this is unusual, so we are taking extra precautions during the investigation,” Laseter told KADN.
“(We) have pretty much completed our crime scene trial. After fully processing the crime scene – this doesn’t look like murder, it looks like an accident.”
Officials are now awaiting a coroner’s autopsy to identify the victim and cause of death.
Crime scene tape blocked the entrance to the Arby’s, and a detective in white overalls stood outside.
Sergeant Daesha Hughes of the New Iberia Police Department said: “The New Iberia Police Department responded to the case of Arby’s on East Admiral Doyle Drive at approximately 6:20 p.m. regarding a body found in a freezer.
“The death is suspicious and is being investigated.”
