A wheelie strange idea! Watch a fully functional bike with SQUARE wheels hit the road

  • Experts at The Q have developed a bicycle with square wheels
  • The wheels feature a tank-like track that moves around as you pedal

From a bike with shoes instead of wheels to an electric bike that lets you ride on water, a range of weird and wonderful bikes have been developed over the years.

But the latest invention may be the most bizarre yet.

Experts at The Q have developed a square-wheeled bike, and while it sounds incredible, it’s fully functional.

“Meet an almost normal bike but with one modification – square wheels!” they wrote in the description for the YouTube video showing off the bike.

“This concept works completely and you can drive and make turns.”

The video shows the team building the frames for the wheels by welding metal poles together to form a square.

Spokes are then added, although these are for aesthetics only.

That’s because the outside of the wheel is equipped with a tank-like track, which moves all over the frame as the rider pedals.

Finally, the wheels are mounted on a standard bicycle frame, before a brave rider hops on and hits the road.

‘Create and [installing] square wheels [a] bike has been one of the craziest projects we’ve ever built,” added The Q.

‘A lot of attention guaranteed.’

As The Q predicted, the video has received massive attention online, with over 1.1 million views at the time of writing.

Several impressed left comments of delight at the YouTube video.

‘Wow, this square bike is a true testament to the power of creativity and innovation!’ a user wrote.

‘It’s amazing to see how something so seemingly impossible can be made functional and rideable.

‘This project really pushes the boundaries of what we consider ‘normal’ and challenges us to think outside the box.

‘Kudos to the creators for their ingenuity and daring!’

Another added, “Man, thanks for the laugh (it was the whole stationary spokes as you pedal, that tickled)!”

“But building a tank-profile square-wheeled bike is phenomenal! Wonderfully creative work.’

And one quipped, “You have to take the bike for a ride in a populated area, where people look surprised and say, ‘What the!?'”

It remains unclear how much the bike cost to build and if it will ever go on sale.
