A treat for mothers: boiling point tea | Short letters

Emma Beddington’s memory of her children “toddling in once a year” with breakfast on Mother’s Day (I adore Nigella Lawson. But I disagree – very much – with her about eating in bed, September 16) made me smile as I recalled my early teenage son proudly bringing me breakfast on Mother’s Day. He made boiled eggs and sandwiches, but, coming from a household known for not wasting anything, he made tea from the boiled egg water. I drank it, but we always remind him of that little “treat”.
