A tear-jerking goodbye note is “posted” by the rescue dog as the neighbors join in on his last walk
A tear-jerking farewell message was “posted” by a Pennsylvania rescue dog asking neighbors to join him on his last walk as he battles terminal cancer.
Rescue dog Mellow was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and his regular walks around his neighborhood with owner Kevin Curry are getting more and more difficult.
Now that the cancer was terminal, Curry tFor one last walk around the neighborhood in Dupont, Pennsylvania, he asked his neighbors to come out and pay their last respects.
Curry decided to post a message last Saturday, titled “Mellow’s Last Walk Around Dupont,” to the neighbors they often bump into on their walks.
Attached to the message was a detailed map showing the route Mellow and Curry would take, as well as the predicted location times for their walk.

In a post shared by Curry with neighbors from Mellow’s perspective, he wrote, “Thank you for making my life so good”

Curry wrote the message as if Mellow had done it herself, writing “thank you for making my life so good.”

Neighbor KJ Warunek told The New York Post: ‘It is a heartwarming and heartbreaking story.
“There must have been 25 people [on the first block]. When I looked at the next block, there were twenty more. I’m going to say the whole walk went like this.’
Speak with The voice of the citizensaid Curry, “I got Mellow seven years ago and unfortunately he was diagnosed with terminal cancer last month.
‘We take two walks in the neighborhood every day, we get to know a lot of people who live in the area
“I decided he needed one last ceremonial walk around town, so we dropped off letters to let them know we’re going for a walk around the neighborhood.”

The message read: ‘My name is Mellow and I have been living in Dupont since September 2019 with my owner Kevin.
“Some neighbors may have petted or given me a treat before, while others only know me from their own dogs who say hello as we pass.
“No matter how well we know each other, you have made my life so much richer than any rescue dog could have hoped for.
“I am so grateful to have such caring neighbors and to live in a community that cares for each other so well.
A neighbor said they thought about 25 people showed up to say goodbye to Mellow
At his request, neighbors petted Mellow as he took his last walk around the neighborhood
Mellow and Curry took a walk around the neighborhood twice a day and got to know many people in the area
“I have certainly slowed down over the years, which is why you are sadly receiving this letter.
“I was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and I am leaving for dog heaven in June.
“I don’t know exactly when I’m going, but every day for the past few weeks has been a struggle for me to move around the neighborhood as I’m used to.
“Therefore, while I still can, I will be marching through the neighborhood on Saturday, June 3 from 7 to 8 p.m. and would like to bid you farewell in person if you are available.
Curry had rescued Mellow seven years ago, and they’d walked twice a day for the past three years

“Come out and pat me on the head or rub my belly and I’ll be eternally grateful (I love people, after all).
“I’ve put a map of our walk on the back and the times I think I’ll pass your house (I may be slower, so I apologize if I’m late).
‘As for my owner, once I die he probably won’t go for walks as much as we do now and so you may not see him as much.
“I know he will miss all of you, especially the other pets in the neighborhood, as much as I do.
“Thanks again for all the love you have shown me over the last 4 years! I hope to see you on Saturday and thank you for making my life so good!’
