A special edition of the Xbox Wireless Controller ‘Sky Cipher’ is coming next month, according to a leak
The next design for the Xbox Wireless Controller could launch next month, marking the return of a fan-favorite design concept.
This was reported by a French press agency Dealabs which, as reported by VGCclaim that the next special edition of the Xbox Wireless Controller will be called the ‘Sky Cipher’ and will feature a blue translucent chassis not dissimilar to the beautiful Forza Horizon 5 Xbox Wireless Controller originally released alongside the popular racing game.
Dealabs claims that Microsoft will officially unveil the Sky Cipher Xbox Wireless Controller in just over a week, on July 31. This should also be when pre-orders open for the controller, which will “likely” go on sale on August 13. As for the price, Dealabs suggests it will cost $69.99 (around £64.99), which is pretty standard for special edition Xbox Wireless Controller designs.
The leak doesn’t have any imagery to accompany it, so we don’t have a visualization of what the alleged upcoming controller might look like. But if it is inspired by the Forza Horizon 5 model, then collectors (or those just looking for a new, swankier design) are in for a treat. The translucent yellow of this controller, combined with the vibrant splashes of pink and blue paint, make for an absolutely gorgeous special edition that is still sought after to this day – three years after its original launch.
In other news, Microsoft has found itself in hot water with the FTC again over its recent price hike on Xbox Game Pass. In a new filing, the FTC alleges the move degrades the product, stating, “the removal of the most valuable games from Microsoft’s new service — combined with price increases for existing users — is exactly the type of consumer harm from the merger that the FTC alleges.”
