A Place In The Sun’s Jonnie Irwin describes home workouts as he shares health updates amid his terminal battle with cancer
Jonnie Irwin has revealed that he now works out at the gym at home to keep his body as healthy as possible.
The 49-year-old A Place In The Sun host admitted he hadn’t accomplished much on his home weight bench due to procrastinating too long.
Jonnie was given just six months to live when he was diagnosed in August 2020 with stage four lung cancer, which has spread to his brain, and he publicly shared his prognosis in December.
He has since changed his diet to “starve” his cancerous tumor, as well as undergoing treatments including hyperbaric oxygen therapy to slow the tumor and extend its lifespan.
Jonnie posted a picture of his pant legs along with black sandals and white socks while he used a weight machine at home.

Keeping fit: The host of A Place In The Sun, 49, admitted he hadn’t achieved much on his home weight bench due to procrastinating too long
Alongside the photo, he wrote, “Mixed feelings about having a weight bench at home – on the plus side I don’t have anyone asking me to move on or pushing me to move on.”
He added, “The downside of doing absolutely nothing but sitting in my ass and scouring the internet for the last half hour. #wormhole #procrastination
After one reason, he joked that “At least no one will doubt your socks and sandals combination!” Jonnie replied, “There’s that!” I’ve become a comfortable man!’
Jonnie’s last picture of himself was in April when he admitted to being disappointed when he emerged from his illness for an ’embarrassing’ football game in which his team Tottenham Hotspur lost 6-1 to Newcastle.
The presenter had previously tried playing football himself with his son, but admitted in March that he was struggling and felt weak and vulnerable.
He told his followers: ‘I’m very sporty and suddenly it’s like… it was like it was the first time I played football. I felt like a grandpa. And that broke me a bit.’
It comes after Jonnie recently sought the help of a digital legacy company to preserve his documents, bills, memories and wishes for his family when he passes away.
He said it would go in @biscuittinco in the post’s caption, writing, “Change of sports – quick penalty play before bed. Rex’s effort goes into the @biscuittinco!’

Jonnie was photographed with company founder Sheila Hogan, who has confirmed they are working together to reduce his digital footprint.
Sheila and Jonnie met at the Flower Café in Newcastle to talk about their project with cancer patient Paul Fowler.
Biscuit Tin was turned down for an investment in the Dragon’s Den, but has since gotten what Sheila asked for six times on the show.
