A Place in the Sun star Danni Menzies reveals what it’s really like to work on beloved Channel 4 show and admits she has ‘seen a few flashers’

A Place In The Sun star Danni Menzies has opened up about what it’s really like working on the hit Channel 4 show – revealing she even ‘saw a few flashes’ during filming.

The Scottish star, 36, has been a fan favorite presenter of the property show since she started co-hosting it in 2016.

However, Danni announced her departure from the program earlier this year and has opted for a surprising career move.

In partnership with The Health Lottery, she will front an ‘inspirational’ podcast speaking to personalities including Kaye Adams from Loose Women.

Looking back on her time on the show, the presenter spoke to the Daily star about what it was like behind the scenes of A Place In The Sun, including the ‘dodgy things’ that sometimes happened in the background of her recordings.

The Scottish star, 36, has been a favorite presenter with viewers of the British property show since she started co-hosting it in 2016.

She told the newspaper: ‘I was doing a bit on camera in Lanzarote and there was a nudist walking in the background.

‘I was filming and they said, “One minute guys, there’s something dodgy behind you.”

‘We had it in Spain too, we were filming and this man cycled past naked on his bike. There are a lot of them, I’ve seen a few flashes.’

Danni added that “living out of a suitcase” took its toll and she found it “hard to date and do normal things.”

The star’s new podcast show will be available on all platforms including Apple, Spotify and Amazon Music from May 23.

Award-winning filmmaker and photographer Doug Allan, Michelin-star chef Andy Beynon and bestselling author Chris Brookmyre will also appear in the pod.

Her show is part of The Health Lottery’s Pay it Forward campaign, which has raised more than £130 million for wellbeing causes in the UK.

Before her podcast really took off, Danni took a luxury vacation to the Cayman Islands to visit her friend Steph in April and shared photos of the trip on Instagram.

The Channel 4 star recently confirmed she is single and said she was simply enjoying life after a brief relationship with Love Island star Jay Younger, 30 – also a Scot.

Danni said, “Things weren’t going well for Jay, but that’s okay. If you travel a lot for work, it becomes more difficult to meet someone.’

Through her Instagram Stories, she shared a poem by Ida Banks and told her followers how her former colleague would “live on in those who loved him.”

The message read: “When we die, I want to believe that we are scattered among all the people who ever loved us.”

‘That we will continue to exist in them, in their bloodstreams, for generations, for lifetimes.’
