A new DualSense PS5 controller with longer battery life may be coming soon
Sony’s DualSense controller is a great gamepad for PS5 (and PC too) that suffers from pretty poor battery life, ranging from 5-7 hours per charge depending on the games you play. However, it’s possible an improved model could arrive soon, but with improved battery life, plus a charging dock in the box (via The edge).
A listing currently live on Best Buy’s Canadian site details the new controller, which is being referred to as a “V2” DualSense. One of the points in the listing mentions that its “exceptional 12 hours of battery life on a full charge supports long gaming sessions.” Notably, the listing shows that this controller may cost $89.99 CAD, the usual price in Canada for the original DualSense.
The images of the DualSense V2 included with the listing don’t show any cosmetic differences that would differentiate it from the original DualSense that comes with every PS5 and has been sold with the console since its launch in 2020. Scrolling through the specs, this new version weighs 280 grams – the same as the previous DualSense. While some or all of these specs may be true, it’s worth keeping in mind that this Best Buy list may not include all the latest details, as Sony hasn’t officially announced this controller.
