Susan has lived in the same council house for the last 60 years and grew up in the West Lothian terraced house.

Not the usual flashy display that often comes from celebrities, the simple abode holds plenty of sentimental value.

She wasn’t interested in trading it for a more luxurious residence when she rose to fame and fortune after Britain’s Got Talent, but rather expanded it.

The singer decided to turn her childhood home into a ‘dream house’ by buying the one next door and joining them together.

Spending just £111,000, he combined the properties to preserve the memories of his own home while gaining more space.

Susan gave the traditional house a more luxurious makeover during the renovation, creating a piano room and modern kitchen. But she kept her own sentiments and religious pieces throughout the property.

Speaking about his decision earlier, he told OK! magazine: ‘It has to do with memories of your home and your upbringing, you need to take stock of things and maybe see where you come from and where your roots are.’

‘It’s better to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things that maybe you shouldn’t say.

Holidays close to home

While most A-listers spend their free time vacationing at exclusive resorts and sunny spots, Susan recently spent time in Ireland closest to home.

Earlier this month, he enjoyed a pre-birthday trip to the 68-room Knock House Hotel in the County Mayo town of Knock.

Hotel bosses shared a photo of the singer on their Facebook page, writing: “It was our pleasure to welcome Susan Boyle back to Knock House recently.

A longtime fan of soap operas, the BGT star was recently delighted to make a cameo appearance on the Scottish TV show River City.

The superstar is said to have watched almost every episode of the show and was delighted to meet Stephen Purdon who plays Bob O’Hara on the soap.

Both fans of each other, he said of the encounter: ‘She saw me and headed straight for me. The first words she said to me were: “You are my favorite.” She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
