Lisa Bonet has finally filed for divorce from her estranged husband Jason Momoa, more than three years after they split.

Court documents filed by the 56-year-old Cosby Show actress revealed that she and Jason, 44, have been divorced since October 2020, just two months after he made a show of restoring her first car as a gift to her.

The couple formally announced their separation in January 2022 after four years of marriage and 16 years together, but insisted the “love between them continued.”

Although many divorces in Hollywood often end in dramatic spectacle, Lisa and Jason have remained close, vowing to remain a “family” and amicably co-parent their children.

The couple formally announced their separation in January 2022 after four years of marriage and 16 years together, but insisted the “love between them continued.”

Jason and Lisa first met in 2004, during the A Different World star gathering her future husband in a jazz club to Porter magazine.

She confessed, “I can't say it was full on from the moment we met, but we've been together since the day we met,” she shared.

After their club meeting, the two went to a cafe for some grits and Guinness, which strengthened their bond.

“That's when love came and it became big, and he didn't run like I think a lot of men do,” Lisa continued. “He actually picked me up and threw me over his shoulder, caveman style!”

Three years later, in 2007, the couple separated welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Lola Iolani Momoa, now 16.

It was the second child for Lisa, who also shares adult daughter Zoë Kravitz, 35, with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz, who maintains a friendship with both Jason and Lisa.

The following year, Jason and Lisa welcomed their second child, a son named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha, who is now 15.

“Nakoa (means) warrior… Mana (means) power/spirit, Kaua (means) rain, po (means) dark,” Lisa said after the birth of her son. 'The (first) name would always be Nakoa-Wolf.'

In 2014, the pair collaborated on a project for the first time, with Jason making his directorial debut in the film Road To Paloma, which he also starred in and co-wrote. Lisa was cast as his love interest.

Lisa also joined her future husband that year with a recurring role on his series The Red Road.

After a decade of rumors, Jason and Lisa finally tied the knot in October 2017 a low-key wedding at their home in Topanga, California.

He later joked that he had manifested the union, telling The Late Late Show host James Corden, “Ever since I was eight years old and I saw her on TV, I was like, 'Mommy, I want that.' ”

“I'm like, 'I'm going to stalk you for the rest of my life, and I'm going to get you.' I'm a full-fledged stalker. I didn't tell her that until we had two babies. Otherwise it would be creepy.”

In August 2020 Jason went all out with a romantic gesture for Lisa in which he restored her 1965 Mustang, her first car that she bought when she was just 17.

“I never thought it would look like this,” Jason said in a YouTube video documenting his wife's joy over her surprise gift.

“To sit here in the passenger seat with my wife and surprise her and our babies in the backseat, driving her first car since she was 17? I'm excited to see her face.”

It has since emerged that the couple split just two months later.

They formally announced their separation in January 2022, sharing the statement: #We have all felt the pressures and changes of these transformative times…A revolution is unfolding and our family is no exception…feeling and growing through the seismic shifts taking place.

“And so we share our family news that we are separating in marriage.”

The couple explained in their statement that they did not announce their divorce “because we think it is newsworthy, but so that we can do so in our lives with dignity and honesty.”

'The love between us continues and evolves in the way it wants to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we learn to become…” they continued.

“Our unwavering commitment to this holy life and our children,” they concluded. “Teaching Our Children What is Possible ~ Living the Prayer.

“May Love Prevail,” they added, signing off as “J & L.”

Even though they went their separate ways romantically, the exes have remained friends ever since, with an insider telling People that the former power couple has remained “close.”

When they split, a source noted that one factor contributing to their brief separation was that the father-of-two and the Ambulance actress are “just very different people.”

“They love each other very much, having been quietly dating for a while before it became public,” an insider told People after they initially called it quits. “They're at different stages of life.”

In 2022, Jason insisted that Lisa is “still family.”

Attending stepdaughter Zoe's Batwoman premiere, he said, “Lisa couldn't be here, so we're representing me and the babies.” We're really excited to be here… It's still family, you know?'

The couple now plans to share joint physical and legal custody of their two children.

Lisa also indicated in her documents that she is not seeking spousal support from Jason, and she suggested that he was not seeking payments from her either.

In the filing, the actress wrote that the division of their assets and properties was “agreed upon between the parties,” suggesting that they may have drawn up a prenuptial agreement to guide the dissolution of their marriage.
