She celebrated her milestone 50th birthday in January with a night out in Paris, surrounded by her loved ones.
But it was Kate Moss’s thirtieth birthday, twenty years earlier, that has gone down in history as one of the most extravagant birthdays the London celebrity circuit has ever seen.
The event, held at Claridge’s in London, has become such a place in party history that it has been recreated for the upcoming series of Moss & Freud, in which Kate is played by Ellie Bamber.
The theme was The Beautiful And Damned and Kate called herself Gloria Gilbert, the spoiled, beautiful creature who marries Anthony Patch in F Scott Fitzgerald’s book of that title.
Kate’s hair was styled in a mop of curls for the evening. Her lids were loaded with heavy navy blue and graphite shadow in a kind of darkly glam look that reeked of patchy sloppiness from the start.

She completed the aesthetic look with a long, sequined, diesel blue dress, which she took off as soon as her tanned toes hit the shaggy pile of her Claridge’s suite later that evening.
The guest list for Kate’s party was typically star-studded and included fellow supermodel Naomi Campbell, fashion designers Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen and Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones.
There were scantily clad waiters, a darkened room with a DJ in the corner where fashion designer Bella Freud was dancing alone at one point.
And there was cake: a towering pyramid of profiteroles in which they were dipped and glistening with honey, roasted almonds, cream and rose petals. Kate blew out the candles to cheers and applause.
Before the party really started, Kate got ready with friends like Sadie Frost and Stella, arriving in a yellow Sue Stemp cocktail dress.
The early partygoers then enjoyed drinks before Kate donned her midnight blue dress and the party really started.
At some point during the evening, the partygoers left Claridge’s to continue the fun at the home of Sam Taylor-Wood, the aspiring filmmaker who would later become Sam Taylor-Johnson, wife of actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
But Kate and her friends were too much for Sam’s neighbors and soon there was a knock on the door from noise prevention officers who had been sent at 1.45am and the gang were sent back to Claridge’s.

According to the Evening Standard, the party was spread across two suites on the seventh floor, with Kate performing a rendition of Summertime while lounging on a piano with Jools Holland.
While not all the events of the evening are known, the bash was wild enough to send then-couple Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin home early.
Kate’s good friend Naomi Campbell stayed out for most of the night before announcing she was going to bed before she “starved to death.”
The party continued until dawn and the rest of the attendees eventually went home around 7:45 am.
Moss & Freud is a dramatized account of supermodel and cultural phenomenon Kate when, at the height of her fame, she made the decision to sit for famed British artist Lucian Freud.
Ellie Bamber stars as a supermodel in the biopic, while Kate herself serves as executive producer.
Speaking about the project in February, Kate said: ‘As this is such a personal story of mine, it was essential that I was involved with James in all aspects of the project.
“I am happy with the recent casting and excited that the movie will begin filming soon. I can’t wait to see him.’

Set around Lucian’s studio in Holland Park and London in the heady days of early 2000s Britain, the story begins by exploring Lucian’s mysterious past and Kate’s life as a globally recognized supermodel.
While her 30th birthday went down in history, Kate’s most recent birthday bash seemed incredibly similar as she partied the night away at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris.
The supermodel managed to turn the upper-class eatery into her own nightclub and danced non-stop until 2am for her 50th party.
She celebrated her milestone in the lush, pastel-hued surroundings of the exclusive Laurent Restaurant in the heart of Paris’s Marigny Square district – alongside boyfriend Nikolai Von Bismarck, 37, daughter Lila, 21.
Despite her newfound spirituality and alcohol-free lifestyle, it was far from a sedate affair.
Just like 20 years ago, 52-year-old Stella McCartney was among the star-studded guests who attended Kate’s iconic party.
Venus Williams, 43, Edward Enninful, 51, and Charlotte Tilbury, 50, were also among the 30-strong group of Kate’s closest friends who were so rowdy in the restaurant’s smoking area that passers-by stopped to look inside and look what happened.
